DMP801

8 Channel Automatic Mixer

SO MUCH MORE THAN ‘JUST’ AN AUTOMIXER

Asystems’ DMP801 is an 8×1 digital automixer with eight pristine mic preamps available through balanced Euroblock connectors. All inputs are utilized through the flexible routing system, controlled via the included user-intuitive PC software. This software also allows you to control the extensive on board signal processing, including 4-band parametric EQs, feedback silencers, duckers, noise-gates, compressors, limiters and, of course, automatic mixing including NOM (Number of Open Microphones) compensation. With flexible networking capabilities and highly accurate automixing, the DMP801 automatic mixer is a must-have for all large commercial installations.

Insert Points on Every Input

While the DMP801 features a plethora of signal processors and versatile mixing through the onboard software, one very important feature is the insert jacks that can be found on each and every input connector. These allow input signals to be sent directly to external devices, only to be returned. Such devices could include compressors, limiters, equalizers, or even additional mixers. Insert points require use of a y-cable, able to send and receive unbalanced signals to and from external devices.

Flexible, User-Controllable Signal Processors

Asystems' DMP801 Automatic Mixer leaves the competition in the dust with a lightning-fast 40-bit floating-point processor with internal sampling selectable between 44.1kHz and 48kHz. Signal processing functions include assignable input and output limiters to prevent input overloading and provide speaker protection; 4-band parametric EQ for input signal enhancement; 31-band graphic EQ to compensate for various room characteristics; and a feedback suppressor with 12 razor-thin filters to obliterate feedback from your signal. For applications requiring spoken word along with program material, DMP801 software also includes ducking with four user-definable parameters.

24V DC Connector for Backup Power

The DMP801 could very well be the heart of your setup, so it’s with that in mind that Asystems engineers incorporated a 24V DC power inlet that allows an external battery or UPS to be connected. This is accomplished through a standard 2-pin Euroblock connector. The DMP801 will draw power from this inlet in the event that power through the main AC power connection is lost. This ensures that even in the event that your venue – or even just that area – loses power, your DMP801 keeps on ticking.

Fits Discretely in 1U of Rack Space

A large part of the DMP801’s initial design revolved around how we could fit as many features possible into a modest 1U product. The back panel is just loaded with connectors: inputs, outputs, inserts and power input. The fact that Asystems engineers were able to jam 8 inputs, 8 inserts and 1 output into this system, while still maintaining the phenomenal signal processing (EQs, dynamics, feedback silencer, etc) is nothing short of remarkable. The space-saving design gives you more room in your rack for other products – but with the bounty of features on board you may not need much else!

Front Panel

im_DMP801_front1036x275-600x159 The thin, attractive front panel of the DMP801 is brilliant in its simplicity. It features eight input and eight output LEDS, each paired with an individual rotary control. Underneath each level meter is a rotary gain control that adjusts input levels for each channel. The Mix Output LED will light up green when a signal is present, and turn red when the signal clips. The blue power LED will light up when the unit is activated. The front-panel power switch can be disabled from the Asystems control software, which activates a red LED indicator (also on the front panel). Once the physical power switch has been disabled, it can only be activated from the DMP801’s software control panel. This subtle but important feature prevents accidental shutdowns from wandering fingers. Integrated rack ears make the 1U DMP801 readily rack-mountable.
